چکیده

Two types of guidelines can be obtained from a DEA (data envelopment analysis) analysis. Firstly, the firm can reduce input or increase production according to the DEA results. Secondly, an inefficient firm might be able to identify reference units. This makes it possible for the inefficient firm to, on site, study production that is more efficient, and thereby get information on e.g. efficient organisational solutions. In this study, we focus on how to detect these firm-relevant reference units. While applying the existing methods for identification of reference units, i.e. the intensity variable method and the dominance method, on a data set concerning booking centres in the Swedish taxi market, shortcomings in these methods were identified. This motivates the development of a new method. This new method, the sphere measure, enables an inefficient unit to identify existing and efficient units that have the largest similarity with itself. The identified units will thus be firmrelevant reference units.

Data Envelopment Analysis with LINGO Modeling for Technical Educational Group of an Organization

Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) was developed to help compare the relative performance of decision-making units. It is a non-parametric method for performing frontier analysis. It uses linear programming to estimate the efficiency of multiple decision-making units and it is commonly used in production, management and economics [3]. DEA generates an efficiency score between 0 and 1 for each unit...

Using MOLP based procedures to solve DEA problems

Data envelopment analysis (DEA) is a technique used to evaluate the relative efficiency of comparable decision making units (DMUs) with multiple input-output. It computes a scalar measure of efficiency and discriminates between efficient and inefficient DMUs. It can also provide reference units for inefficient DMUs without consideration of the decision makers’ (DMs) preferences. In this paper, ...

A Layer DEA Model for Measuring and Improving the Efficiency in the Presence of Special Decision Making Units

In the evaluation of non-efficient units by Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) referenced Decision Making Units (DMU’s) have an important role. Unfortunately DMU’s with extra ordinary output can lead to a monopoly in a reference set, the fact called abnormality due to the outliers' data. In this paper, we introduce a DEA model for evaluating DMU’s under this circumstance. The layer model can resul...

Ranking of units by anti-ideal DMU with common weights

Data envelopment analysis (DEA) is a powerful technique for performance evaluation of decision making units (DMUs). One of the main objectives that is followed in performance evaluation is discriminating among efficient DMUs to provide a complete ranking of DMUs. DEA successfully divides them into two categories: efficient DMUs and inefficient DMUs. The DMUs in the efficient category have ident...

Practical benchmarking in DEA using artificial DMUs

Data envelopment analysis (DEA) is one of the most efficient tools for efficiency measurement which can be employed as a benchmarking method with multiple inputs and outputs. However, DEA does not provide any suggestions for improving efficient units, nor does it provide any benchmark or reference point for these efficient units. Impracticability of these benchmarks under environmental conditio...
